Floral Creations from Mitchell & Company Designs and Events

Three individual arrangements placed together
to give this full effect

This arrangement was made to compliment
the iron tea candle holder.

Fall Arrangement

The next three arrangements were a contest on

                                  my Facebook Page.

My Friends were asked to pick the candy vase arrangement
they liked best.

This was the arrangement that won!

I loved how this "non-flower" arrangement came out.

An artificial fall arrangement with twig and ceramic
pumpkins, fall leaves and Chinese Lanterns

Dining Table Arrangement with burgundy, dusty blue, cream and green silk flowers

This was a fun arrangement to do.  The fiesta colors
looked beautiful and the strawberries
added a different touch.

I call this my Eiffel Tower Arrangement.

The eucalyptus in this arrangement really makes it.

EASTER BUNNY BANNER

I've been working on Easter items to add to my Etsy Shop.  I made this Easter Bunny Banner today and hope to stencil coordinating favor bags to match next!

I found the bunny stencil in my supplies and thought the bunnies would look so cute with pompom tails.  I love how they came out!

The bunnies are stenciled on white burlap and are adorned with Easter color ribbons.

I haven't listed this banner on Etsy yet but, will do so in the next few days.  I'm hoping someone is either selling bunnies or buying bunnies as an Easter gift!  Or, maybe they just love bunnies!

Spring!

"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'" - Robin Williams

Since my yard is covered in snow and I can't offer a lovely spring photo, I thought I would share a Spring inspired recipe.  This one is from an old issue of Country Living Magazine.

CEREAL TARTS WITH YOGURT AND FRESH FRUIT

MAKES 8 SERVINGS

                                  5 cups cornflakes
                                                             1 cup pecans
                                                             4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
                                                             6 tablespoons maple syrup
                                                             16 ounces plain yogurt
                                                             16 ounces vanilla yogurt
                                                            2- 2/3 cups fresh fruit

Make the tart shells:  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Place eight 4-inch round
tart pans with removable bottoms on a baking sheet and set aside.  Place the
cornflakes and pecans in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a metal blade
and process until combined--about 10 short pulses.  Transfer the cereal mixture
to a large bowl, drizzle with the melted butter, and toss to combine.  Stir in the
maple syrup.  Evenly divide the cereal mixture among the tart pans and press
along the bottoms and sides to form shells.  Bake for 10 minutes.  Transfer to a
                                       wire rack to cool.

Assemble the tarts:  Remove the shells from the molds and transfer each to a
serving plate.  Mix yogurts together and top each tart shell with 1/2 cup of
yogurt and 1/3 cup fruit.  Serve immediately.

                                      ENJOY!!

2014 Boston Flower & Garden Show

I wanted to share with you the visit I made on March 15, 2014 with my daughter to the 2014 Boston Flower & Garden Show.  The theme for this year's show was "Romance in the Garden". My daughter and I have gone together for the past two years but, my visits to the Flower Show go back several more.  It's always a fun thing to do, especially this year after a very long and very cold winter.

Our schedules only allowed us to go on Saturday, probably not the best day to go because of the crowds.  A weekday night usually is better if you want to be able to look at the exhibits more leisurely and with more elbow room.  The show is always a get take but, if I am being honest, I would have to agree with the opinion of some women I met waiting in the ladies' room line, every year the exhibits seem to be fewer and fewer while the number of vendors seems to grow more and more.  I'm not really sure why this is.  It could be that the cost of creating these beautiful displays are becoming too expensive.  Not sure why, but, it's still a wonderfully fun outing and truly worth the trip, if for nothing else than to see beautiful flowers and to get excited about the approaching garden season!

This was my favorite exhibit.  So welcoming!

This statue rotated around.  Very cool!

I love hydrangeas!

The cake display section was very interesting.

I loved this one.  The flowers on the cake looked real!

As you can see, it really is a great show!

Springtime in Paris Open House

Hello,

My name is Christine and I am the owner and creative voice of Mitchell & Company Designs and Events.  This blog is in its beginning stages and, truth be told, I am still working on the "About" section.  So...while my blog is still somewhat under construction, I wanted to start posting!  The below photos are of the "Springtime in Paris" Open House I hosted last year to launch my company.  It seemed like a good place to start.  I hope you enjoy the photos, are inspired by the ideas and get a taste of what Mitchell & Company Designs and Events has to offer!
