For those of you who know me, know that I like to change things up often when it comes to the decorations in my home. I am not sure why. It causes extra work for me, but I like to do it anyway.
I have two China cabinets or, if you like, hutches that I choose to redecorate from season
to season.
I thought I would start with the hutch in the kitchen. I purchased it last October or November and have been trying to figure out how to style it since then. Christmas was pretty easy. You can always find
things to decorate with at that time of the year. Now it is January, almost February, and I wanted a new, winter look.
Here is the view of the cabinet from the family room looking into the kitchen, for perspective.
I have truly enjoyed the curved top and the new functionality the hutch has given to the kitchen.
I also liked moving the glass shelves that used to sit there into the office for safety reasons. I have
nine grandchildren ages 1-1/2 to 21 years old and I always worried the glass piece would be jostled and someone could get hurt. So, this is a good change, not to
mention a fun one for me to experiment with.
I purchased the framed art at Hobby Lobby, and I have to say I love it in this hutch.
The rest of the items shown here were ones I already owned.
Even these eucalyptus pods. I had saved these from my wedding floral design days. They
are the coolest unique floral stems you can buy, if you can find them. They also
dry well.
I love the stems in this vase.
I purchased a pear-shaped candle to sit in front of this picture but, it hasn't arrived yet.
It won't be here until next week, for some reason. I ordered it from Amazon and everything.
I am very excited to see if it will finish
off the look for me. I will let you know.
Here are the lower shelves.
That finishes off the look until my candle arrives, or until I think of something
else to add!
Now, I move onto the family room China cabinet. I have been styling this for
more years than I want to admit so, it is more of a challenge to do something new.
As you can see, I kept
a few things from the Christmas season here.
I kept the deer plate in the cabinet. I know it does look like Christmas, but we have soooo
many deer around our home that it is very apropos. Also, I think the plate is pretty.
I also kept the ornament tree on top of the cabinet. I liked the white bulbs for winter and did not
see any reason to take them down just yet.
I continued filling up the shelves with items I already owned. In truth, it won't be
long until other holidays or spring arrive and I will be changing it again. I didn't feel the need for
making more purchases.
I added the pinecones at the last minute and really like how they coordinate the shelves together.
Some of the elements in the cabinet are pretty basic but, I like simplicity in the winter. After the extravagance of the holidays I find I like a crisp, somewhat clean palette.
As I look at the cabinet, I see it needs something blue on the bottom shelf. I am going to go look for something right now. Hahaha!
I hope you are finding a place in your home you can rearrange just
for the joy of it 😀.
