A French Country Easter Dining Room

Hey there, everyone!  I was about to put away my Easter decorations this week, and I looked into the dining room and to be honest remembered just how much I have enjoyed these rather simple decorations for the last month and a half and how, I had neglected to take some photos of them. So, I hope you don't mind but I am going to share the room now, even though it is after Easter.  I have shared my Christmas decorations after Christmas in years past, as well, and you all seem to be ok with that.  So, here goes!

Since moving into this house three and a half years ago I have been trying to move it,

partially, decor-wise in

the French Country direction. The home is a Dutch Colonial

or Gambrel, if you prefer, and in my opinion it

lends itself to the country French style.  I may be coming in late to

this style.  The decorating world could be moving away from it but, shouldn't

we decorate our homes the way we like and to

heck with trends and rules?!

What I discovered when looking at the dining room was that quite unintentionally I had

created a French Country feel for this Easter season.  Funny I had done that unconsciously and I

ended up really liked it. I still struggle with

making this space my own.  The wallpaper is very old and what the previous

owners had placed on the walls.  I am not sure what to do with the space moving forward so,

here it sits...

the same as always.  However, this spring it actually worked for me :).

My dining table and chairs are in the French Country style.  So that is good.

And these old Easter candy molds I had purchased several years ago felt
like French Country to me, as well.

I don't know if you can call Easter eggs country French or not but, they go
well on the table, do they not?

Even the battery-powered lamps my daughter gave me as a gift work well
on the table.

The hat rack that my husband built for me held Easter elements too and also
fit with the theme, to my mind, anyway.

Now to some of the elements in the room with which I may have taken liberties. I still have the
wreath from Christmas hanging over the mantel. I didn't have the heart to take it down.  I thought
it looked pretty up there and didn't conflict with the pink of Easter.

Besides, aren't these photos kind of lovely?

The pink Gonger vases pictured here were my grandmother’s.  I inherited them when my mother passed away a few years ago. I am not sure how I feel about the look of
them.  I can't decide if I like them or not, but I liked them in here at Easter time :).

Thank you for indulging me and allowing me to show you my French Country Easter
Dining Room, even if it is after Easter.  I will definitely need to deconstruct this room in the
days ahead.  It is time
to move onto true spring but, a part of me will miss the bunnies and sheep
and eggs of my country
French room.
