Winter Home Decor

Since there is snow all around me, the décor of my home seems to be taking on a
"winter white" theme.  I plan on adding more color in the next few months with the arrival
of spring but until then it's winter white for me!

Above are some of the necessary things to make it through a New England winter.  Thankfully, however, this winter has been pretty mild and the heavy gear is not as necessary.

I still haven't done away with my copper mugs.  If you've been following me, you know that I had them out all of the Christmas season.  I am really liking the look of copper this year.  I think it contrasts well with the winter white going on in the room.

These shelves are from Ikea and are in my kitchen. I love to change up the dishes, etc. on them with the changing of the seasons.  As you can see, they have taken on a white theme, as well.

I also like the look of these pewter candlestick holders with the crispness of the glass dishes on these shelves.

I had this spool of sheer gray ribbon and thought it would look nice mixed
in with the pewter and glass on my whitewashed shelf.

I think mixing silver, pewter and creams looks pretty nice, especially at this time of year.  Good thing polished silver is out!

 I like this condiment server
from Pottery Barn.  So
cute!  And useful!

To be honest, the bedroom is decorated in winter whites throughout the year.  It seems soothing to me :).

I finally got around to organizing some of my jewelry
on this jewelry tree.  The tree is from Pottery Barn.  I love it!  Everything is right at my fingertips.

I know I have been sharing this entry hall table way too much lately but, I have been having so much fun decorating it!!

Here it is in its "after Christmas and before Valentine's Day" phase.

****************************************

I wanted to show you this old photo of the table
because there is kind of a funny story associated with it. My grandmother gave this table
to me years and years ago.  It had been painted several
times over the years.  I'm pretty sure I have painted it myself
at least two times. While my husband was sanding it down to be
painted yet again, he discovered a beautiful wood top
underneath the many layers of paint. He called me into the garage and said,
"You're not going to want to paint this."  He was right.  I have been enjoying my little heirloom all the more ever since!  (Sorry, I have gotten off track but, I just had to share that!)

Well, anyway, there you have it...some of my winter home decor.  I find the white of winter to have a calming affect in the home after the busyness of December.  I hope you do too!

Enjoy January!!
