The Pictures are in from Kiersten and Chris' Wedding!

Back in September I shared part of my experience of doing the flowers for the wedding of Kiersten and Chris.  If you would like to check out those stories, you can see them here and here.  It appears as though I never totally finished the story.  I meant to, of course, but while I was waiting for the professional photos to come in I think I lost track of time and totally forgot!! Since the professional photographs usually take quite a while to become available to people like me, you know--the florist, I thought it would be a while before I would be able to see them. Well, Kiersten contacted me well before Christmas with the link to her photos but, because of the Christmas season and all that had to do be done for the holidays, I never got around to looking at them until recently.  So....finally I am able to give you a grand tour of the day with professional photographs and all!!

Here are the bridesmaids as they lined up to proceed down the aisle.  I loved the colors Kiersten chose for her wedding.  I loved that she wanted the bouquets to be colorful and flowing.

Winter Home Decor

January Beauty and Transitional Decorating

Soon after this photo was taken, these railing lights were removed and the deck was again dark at night but, there is a transition that comes after Christmas that has a beauty of its own. There is a relief that comes with the end of the busyness of the holidays and an appreciation of the simplicity of winter, both inside and outside of the home.

Remembering Some Beautiful Weddings

Most of last week I spent taking down my Christmas decorations.  It's a funny thing for me because I spend weeks putting them up and I am very sad when I have to take them down.  However, once I get going, it seems like the magic is gone and my decorations just don't fit anymore.  I guess it is just the calendar saying that it is time to move on :).

While I was taking down the decorations I started to think about all the couples who must have became engaged over the holidays.  That is how two of my children did it!  While I was thinking I thought it might be fun to go down memory lane with a few of the weddings I have had the pleasure of doing over the past few years.  Besides, aren't flowers considered uplifting, especially in the winter?!

So here are few floral designs from the weddings of Mitchell & Company Designs and Events' past:

Keri and Phil's wedding was one of the most colorful weddings I have done to date.  What a joy to be able to work with so many beautiful and unique flowers.  As you can see, we used a plethora of blossoms and textures.  It was a true joy doing this wedding for so many reasons.  Keri and Phil were married in early September at the White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

There were purple and white hydrangeas, purple anemones, white and purple stock and white lisianthus, to name a few.
