Hi there! Try as I might I wanted to share a video of my fall family room with you today but, computer woes and technical ineptitude on my part have kept that from happening. I will continue to try to improve my technical skills but, for today I am creating this post in the old-fashioned way with still photos. If you would like to see the video, it is posted on my Instagram account. The link is to the right of this post.
In any case, here we go!
This is the main sitting part of the family room. It is pretty comfy and where we spent most of our leisure time.
On the opposite wall sits a fireplace with this mantle.
I have added a wreath and some other autumn accents to go with the season.
To one side of the fireplace is this decoration. I found this large glass chimney at JCP months ago. It is large and takes up just the right of amount of space on the hearth.
On the left side of the fireplace is this silk flower arrangement that I made a few months ago in August. For some reason it has transitioned well into the fall season.
Back to my original picture, you will find a white hutch in the back on the room.
I filled the hutch with autumn themed items that I had in my stash. I actually found another "fall" box of treasures in the attic from our move almost two years ago that had gone missing. That probably tells you something about my organizational skills. To be kind to myself, moving is very difficult and even with movers, things get misplaced and put in the wrong places as trucks are emptied quickly. The blue pumpkin and felted berries were finds in that missing box.
I think the pumpkin pitcher was also in the moving box.
Also, on the back wall is another cabinet where I like to create fall vignettes. Here are a couple...
One of the items I found in that newly discovered moving box was this plaid fabric pumpkin, as well. Isn't it sweet?
And just around the bend from this cabinet is a mirror. It is on the wall right next to the door. The idea is to place mail in the pocket but, I just use it for decorations. Haha! I guess that adds to the discussion about my organizational skills :)! This mirror came from my dad's house, so it holds sentimental value for me :).
Another tremendous find in that discovered moving box was this prized glass pumpkin pair that I bought from Pottery Barn years ago. I am delighted to have found them! I searched and searched last year in the attic but to no avail. They magically appeared in that box earlier this year!
Here you can find them lit up. As you can see (because I didn't notice this faux pas when taking the picture ↑), I light them up with a battery powered string of orange lights that are timed. They come on around 6:00 each evening. Very festive!
This family room really is a warm and cozy space for my husband and me and, especially so, in the fall~
I hope you are enjoying your October weekend. It has been nothing but spectacular here in the New England state of Massachusetts and we are thrilled to live here!
