I want to share with you a few ways you can add warmth and color to your fall home. When I started planning this post, I expected it to be in one installment but as I started collecting material and pictures, I realized I had more information to share than I thought and didn't want to overwhelm you with photos and maybe lose your interest. Therefore, I have split the post into two parts. For today I am sharing three examples of how I warm up my fall home.
So here goes:
The first way to warm up your fall home and add color is to Lean into Fall Colors even if they are not your “go to colors”. I am a white and cream sort of gal for much of the year when it comes to my home. I like things neutral most of the time. However, something happens to me in the fall when the weather changes and the days get shorter. Once I start removing the neutral decor in my home and commence to add the colors of fall, I begin to feel like my home becomes instantly cozy. It is crazy! All my interior white-color tendencies go away and I, all of a sudden, embrace oranges, yellows and burgundies. Another thing that doesn't hurt in my case is that this is the only time of the year when the outside of my house actually matches the season. It is terracotta colored with yellow trim, not my choice, but in autumn the pumpkins and the mums look right at home in front of my very uniquely painted house. So, I do lean into the colors of fall and am very happy about it!
Another great way to add warmth and color is by incorporating Festive Fall Wreaths into your home's landscape. Wreaths are an easy and fun way to add dimension too. I use a variety of them around my home. You can’t beat a nice wreath for immediately adding decor and texture to a room or door. Although I have made many wreaths from "scratch" in the past, these wreaths are all purchased ones.
You can see here how the wreath is the focal point of this fireplace and adds vibrant
color.
I actually did add the bow and picks to this eucalyptus wreath, so it is somewhat homemade :).
Autumn Themed Artwork can be wonderful for bringing warmth to a room, as well. Changing up your artwork also can show that you are all about details and variety when it comes to the seasons. I purchased this new piece from Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and I love it on the family room mantle. I can look at it every night as we watch TV. Fun! Fun!
My final suggestion for warmth and color in the home is Pumpkins!!! What would fall be without pumpkins?!!! I’m talking real ones, fake ones, fabric ones. You name it! All pumpkins are great. I even have a room in my home that I’m calling the pumpkin room this year. I have some on the mantle, on the dining table, sideboards and side tables. All different types as I already mentioned. I don’t have real ones in the house. I did that one year and they started to leak and ruined some of my furniture. I don’t do that anymore :). I save those for the front steps or around lampposts.
I used less traditional fall colors in the pumpkin dining room, but they are
fall colors, nonetheless.

In the sitting room there are more traditional fall-colored pumpkins. The fabric ones
are cute!
Real pumpkins are the true way to add warmth and color to your house this
time of year. They are the source of all inspiration!
Well, there you have it, the start of my suggestions on how to add warmth and color to
you fall home. I hope you have enjoyed them and please, keep a look-out for Part Two. I hope
to get it published in a day or two.
Until then keep on keeping on and decorating where you can!!!

ideas :).
