Hey, all! Thanksgiving is approaching and I am thinking of getting out the Christmas boxes from the attic and starting to decorate the house...
Hi, all! I know this is coming late and I apologize for that but, I thought I would share my tutorial for filling an outdoor container for the holidays with you today, anyway. I hope you don't mind. Time has gotten away from me. I truly meant to have all my decorating done by Thanksgiving like reputable bloggers do but, we had some unforeseen sadness happen in my family and I was waylaid in my decorating. I am playing catch-up right now but, I am still enjoying getting my home ready for the holidays.
So to begin, I already have two stationary planters on my front step and for practicality-sake I decided to use them for the holidays again this year. I filled these white branches around the brown branches of the curly willow that was already there. Some of it is still alive so, I didn't want to disturb it. The curly willow didn't interfere with anything I was doing so, that was good. It added a little more interest anyway.
More greens (different ones) from my yard were added for interest~
More greens~ These were purchased at my local farm stand. I am sorry the names of them have eluded me. I apologize. Do you see the yellowy tint at the end of the branches of the newly added greens? I spaced the new greens around the planter in various spots, not always in a symmetric way. I did it all by sight.
Your containers are beautiful. Lucky you to have a source in your backyard. The yellow tipped is Incense Cedar, the blue berries are juniper.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Thank you also for the names of the greens I used. I will try to remember them since they are some of my favorites :).
ReplyDeleteThat looks absolutely beautiful! And, your timing is just right, because I still have a container I want to fill and some evergreens in the garage that I bought at our garden center a couple of weeks ago. This post is just what I needed! I love the white branches with the greenery. I would love to find some of those, but I'm not sure where. Thanks for sharing with us at the TFT party.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear my timing wasn't off for you, at least. I hope you enjoy filling your container. I bet it will come out beautifully! Thank you so much for stopping by and for hosting TFT :).
ReplyDeleteP.S. I've featured this at the TFT party. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you, Pam! That is so very nice of you :).
