Since I was sooo wordy in my last post, I am going to try to keep the chatter to a minimum this time around. I have told you in the past how much I love summer but, I have to admit autumn comes in as a very close second. I love the clothes, the sports, the colors, the activities...I guess I'm getting wordy again!!
As much as I tell myself I am NOT going to go through all of the work of seasonal decorating, I always end up doing it anyway. I enjoy it too much! This fall appears to be no exception in that regard. I'm still lugging home pumpkins and bringing up my stash of fall goodies from the basement.

So in an effort to be less-wordy, here is a view of my side deck decorated with pumpkins, guords and seasonal plants.

Pumpkins are an easy and fun way to add great color in the fall.
These Adirondack chairs will be going into storage soon but until then, it's nice to have somewhere to sit outside since all our other lawn furniture is stowed away.
I decided to use the firepit for decoration this fall instead of for its normal use. If we decide we need to make s'mores, the pumpkins and guords can easily be removed.

I often stick a pumpkin or a large squash in my beleaguered summer window boxes. That way I can get a few more weeks of enjoyment out of them :).

Now onto the barn...I am lucky (or cursed, depending on your view) of having an old barn on my property. It offers a great opportunity to showcase seasonal and holiday decorations but, it also represents a challenge in the effort to always keep it looking nice. It is especially tough in the summer because the barn rests a fair distance from the house and requires hand watering. With the drought this summer I opted to have a wreath on the door and that was it! No pretty window boxes this summer. It was the right choice this year, for all sorts of reasons.
Now, I am feeling doubly guilty and feel the need to decorate the barn especially well for the harvest season. I think my neighbors like it when I do! At least, I hope so :).
^I shared this photo on my Instagram account. ^
I made this wreath with products from Michaels. I think the ribbon may have come from JoAnn Fabrics. The wreath took an unexpectedly large amount of silk flowers to fill. I was surprised but, I like how it turned out.
Do you see the reflection of my neighbors garage in the window? I thought it looked neat.

Finally, this is the view out of my kitchen window. The color is amazing!! Fall in New England is awesome!
Next to come--- fall vignettes from inside of my house.
Until then, enjoy the fall wherever you may live!

This outdoor decor is lovely and restful. It is too cold where I live to really sit outside in the fall time. When I retire I hope to live where we can enjoy the deck. Very pretty
ReplyDeleteThank you Leanna. It will get cold on our patio too but, I'll enjoy it while I can!

DeleteI absolutely adore your patio! My backyard is still a serious work in progress right now, so I really need to live vicariously through yours!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to decorate your fire pit like that. I am going to remember that one.
Thank you, Christine. I know all about projects! We always have something we need to get done! Good luck on yours!
