Hi everyone! How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was great with lots of family time. But to be honest doesn't Thanksgiving seem like eons ago?! Anyway, I am back again with my transitional centerpiece. Only this time, we will be displaying the Christmas season through flowers.
As you might remember I had made a Thanksgiving centerpiece using evergreens as my base. You may read that post here if you would like. This was done so that the same base could be used to "transition" the arrangement into the next phase of the holidays, namely Christmas.
So, this is the beginning point of the next arrangement. As you can see after a week and two days it is still looking pretty good. There are a few mums starting to go but, mostly it is still looking pretty good. The only problem is my whole house is now red and green, silver and gold. No more fall colors. It's time to move this arrangement onto the next holiday.
It was time to remove the fall-colored flowers.
I left the gold balls and white hypericum berries in the arrangement. That was my plan all along. I did have to trim that one bad white berry out. You can see it in this photo below. A quick snip and we are all set to go.
Everything looks a bit straggly here but, hang in there. It gets better.
I decided to give the arrangement a good dose of water to make sure it was well hydrated. The oasis, at this point, might need a little help to keep doing its job.
I decided to add another cluster of gold balls to the back of the arrangement. I wish I had included that element into the earlier centerpiece so, I fixed that mistake the second time around.
You can also see where I added in a little bit of boxwood to the greenery, as well. I felt the December arrangement would benefit from some boxwood.
I forgot to take pictures while designing the new centerpiece. This often happens with me. I get in the moment and then all of a sudden, I am done. Here is the Christmas arrangement when it was finished. I placed the bow in a different location this time.
I found these white pom mums at my local Shaw’s. Aren’t they beautiful? The roses came from Shaw’s also. Those were the only flowers I needed to purchase for the arrangement. It was a $21 investment. Not bad, and I have three roses leftover to use in a Bud vase, as well.
So now I have a festive centerpiece to set on the kitchen table. It finished the look of the room. We eat most of our meals here so, we really get to enjoy the fruits of my labor. The grandkids do, as well, but they don’t really appreciate it, especially Little James. He’s only 5 months old :).
Have a great weekend
