A Bridal Shower at Davio's, Chestnut Hill

Hey, there!  I know it has been a while since I last checked in here at my blog.  I think I have been busy with my home life and, to be honest, I was having a hard time coming up with something that I felt was good enough to share with you creatively on the blog.  Thankfully, last week I was given the opportunity to get my creative juices going again.  Yay!

About a month and a half ago, Karen, contacted me to see if I was available to do the centerpieces for the bridal shower of her soon to be daughter-in-law.  Karen is a good friend of my friends Carolyn and Joni and through them we happened to meet.

The shower was going to be at Davio's Restaurant in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, not far from Boston.  I told her I was available and would love to do the centerpieces for her!

Karen informed me that the bride-to-be liked simplicity and sent me a picture of a centerpiece that featured blue hydrangeas that she really liked.  So, I set out to create a plan and as the day got closer, I placed my flower order at the flower market for the upcoming event.  The flowers to be used in the centerpieces would be blue hydrangeas (of course!), green hydrangeas, white stock, white rose and a little bit of asparagus fern.

I picked up my flower order the Thursday before the shower which was going to take place two days later on Saturday.  I cut and conditioned all the flowers on Thursday and set out to create the centerpieces on Friday in my studio/shed.  I love working in that space.  It is so serene and private.  Just being there gets the creative juices flowing for me :).

I made seven centerpieces in total.  I also decided to make a little nosegay of white roses and white stock for the bride-to-be.  I had never met her but, I was hoping she liked white roses and that she would like the nosegay.  I figured, who wouldn't like a little bouquet of their very own, especially when you are the lady of the hour?

My husband and I loaded up all the flowers on Saturday morning.  My assistant, Judy, was on vacation so, I was very happy Tom was available to help me.  We drove about 45 minutes to the restaurant.  The restaurant staff was so nice and to my delight, the room where the shower was to be held was absolutely gorgeous, so tasteful with lovely huge floor-to-high ceiling windows.  It was the perfect spot for a bridal shower, totally perfect.

We unloaded the centerpieces from the car and as the restaurant was on the second floor of the building we walked up the stairs carrying one centerpiece at a time until we were given a cart on which to place the remaining centerpieces. We were able to use the elevator from that point on.  As I said, the staff was so nice!

All in all, everything went off without a hitch.  I was thrilled with how the flowers looked on the tables and in the room.  My sweet husband said, "What a difference your flowers make it the room!"  Music to my ears because I really do put a lot of heart and soul into my floral arrangements.

Karen made my day by sending me a text that said:

OMG!!!!  The flowers are just beautiful!!!!  Thank you SO much!!!!

My day was complete.  Tom and I traveled down to our cottage on Cape Cod to do a few things around the house.  We were going to have family join us for the 4th of July holiday.  It was a full day...a good day!

Here is how the room looked from our point of view.  I was very excited for all who were going to be attending the shower.  I love the celebrations of life and, sometimes, being a very tiny part of them!

I hope you are enjoying the celebrations of your life!
