Hi all! Sorry, it has been a while since I have posted on my blog. Much has been going on in my little life, not the least of which is worrying about an aging mother and her care. However, truthfully through all of this I have felt uninspired and found it hard to think of things to share with you all. But I did have a wonderful life experience last week that DID give me inspiration and I am back with the story!
For a second year my granddaughter Stella has asked me to make her prom corsage, along with the boutonniere for her boyfriend. I was, of course, thrilled and took it very seriously. I am not going to give a tutorial today as to how to make a corsage. My process is kind of messy and I need to concentrate while I am making them, so this was not the time. I will try in the future when the pressure is off.
To begin, these were the "ingredients" used to make the corsage. They included white spray roses, baby's breath, a wristlet, Israeli Ruscus and a sheer ribbon to match Stella's dress.
Next, I set out to make the boutonniere. Stella's date wanted a simple boutonniere, as well. I learned that fact last year when I made two different boutonnieres for him to choose from, one simple and one more elaborate. He nicely told me he would like the simple one. I listened and learned for this year :).
Here is the end result. I used all the same elements as the corsage. However, I did wrap the tiny stems of the bout in a thinner silk ribbon.
Here is the sweet couple on the day of their prom.
I thought they were just the cutest!!!
And, as a special treat for me, I made myself an arrangement with the leftover flowers to enjoy in my home.
I know...there are a lot of flowers leftover. I could have made many more corsages. Haha! But the treat was to be a part of Stella's wonderful day!
